Born and raised in Amsterdam, Matthias Vriens-McGrath entered the world of design and publishing following his move to Paris in 1992. He started collaborating with Dutch magazine, eventually becoming both its Creative Director and Editor-in-Chief. Under the direction of Matthias, Dutch grew from a local homegrown magazine to an international style bible, garnering the attention and support of fashion’s major advertisers. Matthias’s skill at provocation encased in the bodies of humor and elegance, was one of the keys to Dutch’s success. Even today, the famous naked issue, in which the only fashion visible was the brand credits themselves, continues to resonate among the fashion world. After exiting Dutch, Matthias became worldwide Creative Director for Giorgio Armani and a year later was named Senior Art Director for Gucci Group. While working as an Art Director, Matthias discovered his passion for photography and transitioned to New York City, where he began producing editorial for i-D, The Face, Vogue Hommes International, The New York Times, Interview, Numero/Numero Homme, Fantastic Man, Wallpaper* and Butt magazine. Unable to stay away from the magazine world, Matthias has recently decided to launch TVTOR, an analog as well as digital platform for contemporary art and men’s and women’s fashion. He looks forward to sharing TVTOR with the world spring 2014.
